WHY PEOPLE TRUST OUR

ROOF CLEANING SERVICES

“While the service had to be rescheduled owing to unsuitable weather, Scott then came on a holiday (Memorial Day), early, and did an excellent job. I really appreciated his responsiveness via e-mail and phone, the quality of the work performed, and his scheduling flexibility.”

“It went great. They covered all my shrubs before applying the solution.”

“During the estimate process Scott with Stain Medix did a great job explaining their services and what to expect. Anytime we needed to speak on the telephone Scott was very prompt in returning our calls. From start to finish, Scott and his father worked safely and efficiently. They took great care to prepare and protect our landscape plantings and vegetable plants prior to the cleanings. Scott was kind, courteous, and considerate in all of his business dealings with us. We would not hesitate recommending Stain Medix to anyone. We will be using Stain Medix again whenever we have a need for their cleaning services. Stain Medix has a great warranty on their roof cleaning, too! We wish all contractors were as conscientious as Scott with Stain Medix!”

“Stain Medix did an excellent job of making our roof look beautiful again. They were very

 QUESTIONS

  • What is Soft Washing and Why Shouldn't a Roof be Pressure Washed?

Soft wash is the process of using a chemical cleaning solution, instead of a pressure washer, to gently remove organic materials such as algae, moss, mold and lichen from roofs, vinyl siding, trim, gutters and most other exterior building surfaces.  Soft washing is quickly becoming the mainstream method of house washing and roof cleaning.  Power washers should never be used to clean an asphalt shingle roof.  The harsh pressure can dislodge the ceramic granules that protect the surface of the shingle which can lead to premature shingle failure.

  • Is Soft Wash Roof Cleaning Safe for My Roof?

Soft washing is absoutely safe for your asphalt shingle roof.  It is the only method recommended by the shingle manufactureres association (ARMA).

  • What are Those Black Stains on My Roof?

Most people don't know what those black stains and streaks are on their asphalt shingle roof.  They are not caused by pollution, acid rain or jet fuel.  The truth is that the black stains and streaks on the roof are colonies of blue-green algae.  Technically, they are a cyanobacteria called gloeocapsa magma.  The spores spread through the wind and animals and will only grow where the conditions are optimal.  This usually means the most cool, damp and dark areas of the roof.  Because the north facing side of the house gets the least amount of sun, it is almosts always the first area to get black algae stains.

  • What Do You Do to Protect My Grass, Plants and Shrubs?

Our professionals take all necessary precautions to protect personal property and landscaping during our cleanings.  The first thing we will do is to move any plants or other items that can be relocated away from the house.  Next, we will assess the downspouts and place plastic bags over the downspout openings to catch any cleaning solution runoff from the gutters.  We will cover delicate or flowering plants with plastic tarps to keep their leaves and flowers spot-free.  Lastly, our dedicated groundsperson will continuously water all of the grass, plants and shrubs to dilute any overspray that may fall from the roof.  You can rest assured that not only will your roof look fabulous, your yard and precious landscaping will be cared for like our own.

  • Is the Soft Wash Process Safe for Pets?

The chemical in the cleaning solution that we use is chlorine bleach.  It is the same chemical used in swimming pools.  Dogs and cats are not interested in the smell of the chemical cleaner so they won't be trying to seek it out.  Even it they did, any residue that may be left on the ground will have been heavily diluted.  It is always better to be safe, however, and wait a few hours for the solution to evaporate before letting pets play around the perimeter of the house in case a pet is sensitive to the smell.

  • How Long Does it Take for the Roof to Look Clean and How Long Will it Stay Looking Clean?

Black streaks and stains will disappear immediately.  Moss and Lichen can usually be removed immediately, but sometimes may take some time for all material to detach and wash away with the rain.  We guarantee that algae stains will not return for at least 2 years.  We normally see stains return between 4 and 5 years after cleaning.
